I published my first ever reel

Being completely and totally honest, I’m not sure how to start this one. Except that is to say, that I started. For the first time in a long time, an idea that had been brewing in the back of mind has come to fruition. And man, it feels good.

Regardless of whether whatever I write is a success, or if people even care, it doesn’t matter. Because I started it. I finally started it.

If you don’t have any idea of what I’m talking about, allow me to offer some context:

Two weeks ago I shared my very first reel. It was simply me reading a short story that I had written with some AI generated pencil sketch art interspersed in between because I do honestly believe there’s only so long you can stare at my face before moving onto the next reel about making a one pot teryiyaki chicken in the rice cooker.

And you know what? I had fun doing it. I have fun writing cute stories and doing silly british voices over the top of them. I have fun ripping up a piece of paper and putting it inside a big red hardcover book so it looks like I’m reading out of a 100 year novel.

I also have fun wearing glasses with the most minute prescription in them so I can valiantly defend myself in the comments by saying that they increase my perceived IQ (I’m pretty sure that’s a real thing).

I’m here enjoying the journey of making these videos and writing a novel. Balancing out that time. Finding what people like. What they don’t like. And the only way I can do that is by producing a lot more of them.

At least for now, people liked it. And they liked my 2nd one too (spoiler alert). And whether I choose to believe people or whether they’re just saying nice things to gas me up, it’s irrelevant because the data doesn’t lie. The algorithm doesn’t lie. The reach doesn’t lie. The engagement doesn’t lie.

So, here’s to the next 6 months (at least) and hopefully by then I’ll have at least another 30 videos to show for it. I might even post some more about how it’s going and things I’ve learnt — but I’ll save the boring marketing stuff for another day.

P.S. Follow me and like every video. Even if you don’t watch them. Just like them. There’s a promising reward, I swear.
